Swimming
The beginning of the summer I wasn't so sure how swimming was going to go in the Monihan house. They both have an extreme dislike of water getting in or around their eyes. It causes some pretty major drama in the bath tub. We started off the season with them in our little mini pool. After that molded we decided to try my neighbors pool. It's a salt water pool so we tested it out to see how it would affect their allergies. (Jury is still out, there might be a correlation to Cooper's lung issues flaring up to pool dates but I didn't keep a calendar like I should have.) They started off in the floats where they could put their legs in and they loved to have us all pull them around and have "storms." A storm is when my neighbor Doug would shake their float all around like they were in a big storm. They LOVED that. After 2-3 times like that I pulled out the life jackets and arm floaties. They took to that amazingly. After 2 times with the arm floats those came off and they just paddle around the whole pool with their life jackets chasing me and each other having a grand time. In retrospect I wish we would have gone swimming a lot more. I held back because the boys had a lot of skin flare ups this summer and I just don't know if the pool made it worse or not. Guess there's always next year to figure that out! I was just thrilled the boys made so much progress in such a short amount of time. (By the way the hug in this picture was totally spontaneous.)
