Cooper said, "Mommy"

It's official Cooper called me Mommy. He was waking up from his nap and his Aunt Haley was watching and listening to him on the monitor. We were listening to him talk when he shouted, "Mommy, Mommy." Haley asked if I heard it when he said, "Mommy!" again. There was no denying it. I practically threw Bear onto Haley and went running into his room shouting, "Here I am!" It was really cute and relief to know he won't be calling me Abbie forever.

Wrestle Mania

From December through February the boys went through a funny wrestling phase. Cooper would jump on Bear in what looked like a hug and then he would just fall. Of course then Bear would start screaming and crying. So I guess Bear figured out he could jump too and started jumping on Coop who would then start screaming and crying! Luckily they like to hug too.

Ninja Warrior

This post is to tell everyone about the absolutely coolest show I've run across in a long time. We all have our Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy's that we watch and love. But just yesterday, when Abbie and the boys went out to the gym and to run some errands leaving me home alone, I found a gameshow that I know at least the guys would think is awesome.

It's called Ninja Warrior and it airs on G4TV.

Naturally, when flipping through the channels, if there's something with Ninja in the title, there's only one course of action...stop and watch it.

Ninja Warrior is a Japanese obstacle course that's a national obsession of theirs. The course has four stages to it. The first two stages are speed stages to weed out the less physically gifted. The third stage is all upper body strength and endurance and there's no time limit. The final stage has a 30 second time limit.

Each iteration of the tournament has 100 contestants, drawn from all over Japan and all walks of life, and internationally, also. I saw episodes with the Hamm brothers from the last Olympics...they were the gymnastics twins. They didn't make it. In fact, in the 10 years of the competition, only two guys have ever finished. TWO!

It's an awesome competition and usually 80 out of the 100 don't make it past the first stage.

Check out this you tube video of the last guy to finish the course and you'll get a good idea of why this show is so addicting; it's all in Japanese, so turn down the volume and just watch, learn, marvel, envy, and enjoy.

If I can figure out how to apply to this damned competition, I'm going to throw my hat in the ring (after considerable training of course). I'm considering making a replica obstacle course in our backyard...well, when we get a backyard. :-)

Tazmanian Devil

This happened in January. After our trip to visit GiGi at Snowshoe he learned how to jump out of his crib. Thinking maybe we should look into a toddler bed, we pulled out the fouton bed and got him to rest there and he seemed to enjoy laying on it. So when we got home he jumped out of his crib and we thought we'd see if he'd end up going to sleep on his new bed. Ha ha ha ha ha. He was up and running around his room for an hour. We thought he was reading books, playing with toys. Imagine our shock when we opened the door and found the room turned upside down. He pulled clothes out of drawers, turned over the laundry basket and just literally threw everything around! I guess the bed was too filled with his mess so he curled up in the rocking chair and fell asleep. Needless to say that was the first and only time we let him get away with jumping out of the crib.
